Frequently Asked Questions
Before contacting me by email, why not have a quick browse through the most popular questions, below:
What is Rosie's Vintage Lampshades all about?
Well let me introduce myself, I am the Rosie of 'Rosie's Vintage Lampshades'. I've been working along with my very
good friend Zia at The Old Lamp Shed for a while but she very kindly has given me this part of the business to run for myself!
So with a little... Ok, a LOT of help from my friends - thanks guys! - Rosie's Vintage
Lampshades was born. It's just me, in the spare room at my parents house, nomming on lemonade and rich teas... oh and
occasionally making a lampshade or two :-)
How can I pay?
I generally only accept payment through PayPal. Through the PayPal secure website you can pay using your credit or debit
card without setting up an account if you do not wish to. If you need any assistance to pay,
feel free to contact me at rosie@rosiesvintagelampshades.co.uk.
Can I bespoke my own lampshade?
Basically yes! I can make lampshades in virtually any shape or size you fancy for a small extra price. If you have a
particular item, paper, fabric, buttons, lace, photos etc. that you would like incorporated into a lampshade design,
drop me an email to explain and I’ll see what I can do!
Also... Don't miss my new Trial Designs page, if you're looking for something new.
Will the lampshade fit my lampstand/pendant?
There's a very good chance that it will. The centre hole used to hold the lampshade
is 40mm in diameter and fits European lamps. I also enclose a converter plug that
reduces the diameter to 25mm - the UK standard.
Have a peek at my Fitting page for more details, including pictures.
What if I want to return my lampshade?
If, SHOCK HORROR, something goes wrong with your lovely new lampshade, of course I want to make it right for you as
soon as possible.
If I’ve made a mistake then of course I will fix it free of charge, just drop me an
email letting me know what the problem is.
Sometimes things do get damaged in the post. If this happens, let me know by email as soon as you can along with pictures so
I can claim the insurance from the courier company and then I can set to making you a new lampshade.
If you’ve just changed your mind, please remember that all shades are made to order and they cost me time and money
to make. So, though I can give you a refund, I do ask that the shade is in saleable condition and
you pay the courier return fee.
How long is it going to take?
I recommend a 2-3 week wait on all items in busy times but generally delivery should take just over a week.
When I confirm your order, I will give you an estimated time frame for delivery.
Can you send me a lampshade if I live outside the UK?
I can Indeedy!
I can only send you the 12" diameter lampshades (or less) and I charge an extra £5
(Europe)/£10 (Rest of World) for postage costs.
Click one of the buttons, below, to add the appropriate international suppliment to your order.
Do you have a shop so I can come see your lampshades for myself?
Alas not, Rosie’s Vintage Lampshades is simply an online shop at present. If you're unsure
whether one of my shades would complement your decor, then drop me an email
giving me your address and I'll pop a swatch in the post so you can see exactly how it looks.
Do you supply diffusers?
I certainly do! These are thin discs that sit
at the bottom of a ceiling lampshade to prevent you being dazzled by the bulb.
If you would like one, you need to order it at the same time
as your lampshade so I can make your shade with the necessary lip and increase its depth
to ensure the bulb has sufficient clearance. Go to my Diffusers page to order.
What's the best way to contact you?
The best way is to email me at rosie@rosiesvintagelampshades.co.uk.
I will get back to you as soon as I finish making lampshades for the day.
Do you have a privacy policy?
Yes I do... My dad thought that it would be a good idea. Click Here.
